1. **Hair Prep:** Start with a short haircut and shave, preferably 2 inches or higher. This will make it easier to train your hair.
2. **Washing:** Wash your hair with a good shampoo to remove any dirt, grease, or product build-up. It's best to wash at least 2-3 times a week.
3. **Brushing:** The main step in getting waves is brushing. Get a good quality brush, typically a medium or hard bristle brush. Brush your hair in the direction you want your waves to form. For 360 waves, this is usually done in an outward direction from the crown of the head.
4. **Moisturizing:** Use a wave-specific pomade or moisturizer. Apply it to your hair while it's still a little damp from washing, then brush it again to distribute the product.
5. **Durag:** After brushing, wear a durag or wave cap to keep your hair in place, particularly when sleeping. This will help your waves set in the direction you've brushed.
6. **Maintenance:** Repeat these steps daily. It takes time to develop waves, so be patient.
**540 and 720 Waves**
The process for getting 540 and 720 waves is essentially the same, but with a different brushing pattern. Instead of brushing outwards from the crown:
1. For 540 waves, you should brush your hair at a diagonal angle all the way around your head.
2. For 720 waves, you'll brush in a horizontal pattern, essentially spinning your waves around your head.
Note: You may need to experiment with different angles and brushing techniques to achieve your desired look.
Getting 360, 540, or 720 waves can take several weeks to several months, depending on your hair type and how consistently you follow these steps. It's essential to maintain your wave pattern even after it's formed. Continue with regular brushing, moisturizing, and durag use to keep your waves looking fresh.
